I...umm...I actually don't know.
Sonic and Knuckles have brute strength and raw speed, but Mario and Luigi have teamwork which is unrivaled.
Hmmm... I think that Knuckles and Luigi would pick each other off, leaving Mario and Sonic to have an epic fight, which would look something like this:

What kind of Q&A is that, of couse S&K because sonic and knuckles have somewhat great teamwork, sonic would go super sonic, chuck knux at mario and luigi, knux would do a super punch ^punch_punch and bam automatic win Sonic and knuckles mario and luigi is weak we will pwnz them
