Yep, my family calls me a jerk all the time, they pretty much disowned me cuz they all hate me. I still try my best to make people happy

It means that the family legally takes you out of the family and you are no longer a member of that family. My family pretty much disowned me because they all hate me and turn everything I say into a joke. But that doesn't matter because my friends are my family
