Walt Disney World Tragedy ~ July 5, 2009

Sad news out of Walt Disney World, 2 monorails (trains that ride on a rail in the sky) collided around 2 AM on July 5th after delivering one of the final loads of passengers from the Magic Kingdom. One monorail was planning on backing up onto another rail in order to get out of the way to be taken out of service for the night when it backed up onto the WRONG track and hit the other monorail killing a driver. Since I live in Florida and I am within a good driving distance of WDW (50 miles or so) I thought I would pass along this sad news.

I am posting 2 videos, one is a news report about the incident that broke around 2 AM and the other is footage someone shot of the 2 trails crashed together (NO GORE/BLOOD INCLUDED)...since the person was not suppose to be taping at the time the 2nd video could get removed at any time. It is sad that the people who are evacuating from the train are yelling out to see if one of the 2 drivers are OK, sadly the one they are asking "Are you OK?" died from the crash.

My heart goes out to the victim's family...

Oh snap, that's horrible. Hopefully the people involved in the accident are alright.

Only 1 person died (one monorail driver)...but the others only had minor injuries!

Yeah, but still. It may only be a minor injury now, but it could later return as head trauma or something else.

True...but I bet any injuries that could turn out like that were treated in time so that would happen.

More news people...sadly the autopsy came back on the person and the 21 year old pilot who died was obviously CRUSHED to death!

omg, that really sucks. So one person died? The driver? Ok, it'd really suck going on vacation to Disney World and dying. But it'd suck to die regardless

They said the dead 21 year old student was studying in computers and was driving for 8 months in a monorail as his job.

No tourists died in the crash...thank god!
