Tips on making a good fan character.

So here are some tips on making a FC by me.

Appearance

For the name of God, please stop making hedgehog characters. They
are too much overused! Remember that you have a brain which you use to think off ideas so think of a clever Animal that fits your FC personality.

Think of Something original

And also, do not make FREAKING RECOLORS because every expert in art and stuff will complain a lot on your FC. Its just like you colored Sonic to red then you will say "OMG, This is the most original fan character evah!" which is the MOST WRONG THING EVER.

Powers

So you made your FC, now think of what kind of powers will he use.

DON'T USE SPEED! WAY TOO MUCH OVERUSED!
SONIC IS THE ONLY FAST CHARACTER AROUND HERE!

Think of something like the ability to control fire, Super Smartness, Flying,
can breath in water, Super Strength, etc.

Colors

Try to make them fitting to your likings. Do not use the color yellow
because it will look like its Super Form or something. Also try to be creative
on putting its colors and Shade your character nicely so it will look very good.

Do not make a fan character with tons of wrong colors like Micheals' FC which its colors is very unfitting and not compatible.

Personality

You can make any kind of personality you like your FC to have since YOU own it. You can make him Short Tempered, Joyful, Scaredy cat,
Pervert, etc. as long as you are comfortable with it.

and if you follow these tips, it might turn out into something like Draco's FC, Rendel's FC, and mine.

I will Kill anyone who recolors this and claim it its their own!

As you can see its a Wolf, not a hedgehog, Echidna, etc. and he looks
very different from other FC and his colors is just like the way I like it.

Good job, unless it was just me it sounded like you took some information from this video I watched from one of my subscriptions I have on YouTube...this was released just a few days ago! The video talks about how to make good FC's too.

Great tut, I would just like to say

It doesn't bother me if you make recolors. Halve of the SEGA hedgehogs are recolors, so what's different about it?

Anyway, nice tips. And always remember to make the character someone you would enjoy to be/roleplay as (incase you're a rper)

Also, a good thing to stay away from is having your characters somehow intertwined with real characters. If it's some non-cliché relationship, like a sibling's friend, then I suppose it's okay. But stay away from MAINLY these clichés:

-"OMFG liek (insert Sonic character here) is SOOOOOOOO ttly hed ova heelz in luv with (insert fanchar here)" (note, it is okay for YOUR character to kinda like a real character, imo, but don't make it so they're so irresistable and an official char is madly in love with them. Ex: My character, Taze, kinda has a little crush on Shadow. That doesn't mean that he likes her back. Same with Sophie liking Silver. Don't mean he likes her. The best way to go, however, is to not have your character know official characters. Like Nova, she has no fucking clue who Sonic and the gang are. It's just her and whatever computer she decides is going to fall victim next (lolololol virus). So yeah. Just throwing that out there.)

-"liek, so (insert Sonic character here) and mah chara r teh best freendz dey met wen dey wer kidz lolololol"

-"(Sonic character)'s my brother/sister and I'll do anything to help and protect him/her! *insert godmodded fight scene here*"

Also, don't make your character have no weaknesses. There is NO CHARACTER ALIVE who cannot be defeated in one way or another.

good tips, another thing is age: most sonic fan sonic chars are roughly the same age as sonic, they don't have 2 be sonic's age to kick but, take my FC, aurum, he's 10 and likes to get in the thick of it.

have i made my point? or do i need to set it out word for word so even a 3 month old baby can read it

If your a fox (If you just don't feel like being something else), You MAY NOT HAVE TWO TAILS
And.. The fact that your character is related to a official Sonic character is a EPIC NO.
And, I like your tips.. =P

I are totally correct about the Fox FCs!
People who has fox fcs that have 2 tails are freaking noobs.

When I see people with fox FCs that have l2 tails.. It makes me want to punt small animals, Mkay?
Also, You character name... If its off by one letter of a official character's name, You will be beaten with chees sticks.
