I find this...odd and unnerving that they feel the need to be better than Smash, but if it's in the same vein I may end up renting it. Here's pulling for a Katamari character.

Anywho, Nobody said that this would be a smash bros clone, for all we know it could be a street fighter clone.
Although street fighter style gameplay is basically the standard for fighters, so it wouldn't be fair to call it a clone.
That said, if it was a smash clone it wouldn't surprise me. HAL labs probably wouldn't be too happy about having their smash engine cloned for some knockoff title destined for the bargain bin though.
They might want to patent it like SEGA did with their Crazy Taxi styled gameplay. For SEGA to do that was just pointless, especially considering that the CT series is basically dead. Nintendo doing that with their smash engine seems reasonable though, especially with their latest installment coming up.

For now, i'll say that is completely retarded. But we will see, i might be wrong and that mechanic might actually be good.
Compared to Smash, this looks like utter garbage.
On it's own, it looks kind of interesting... Not enough to hold my attention for more than a couple minutes, as it appears to be a pretty generic fighter, with some sort of neat backgrounds and bland stage design.
The only semi-interesting stage showcased there was the LBP level, as it changed during gameplay, but again, smash did it better, so it's nothing too amazing.
Still, this is an early build, so it might get better...?

So as not to confuse people, I suppose, and to better tie-in with the upcoming release, since this game will still be played by that time.
And it's not exactly "Skipping" when they're all unrelated games and there's no defined continuity. Also, DMC4 was received rather poorly.
I also doubt that the the lack of crash or Spyro has anything to do with Activision. Sony could quite easily acquire them- but they are fairly aged, to be honest.

Adding to what Tana said, the only reason western audiences like Marth and Roy is because they were awesome in Melee. I figure the same thing might apply for Dante.

What urks me the most is that LBPK has it. You know, a game that basically REVOLVES around the online multiplayer. I guess I get what they're going for but it's really stupid that I can't access all the features before I decide that I want to buy the game. That's what renting has always been to me.

What urks me the most is that LBPK has it. You know, a game that basically REVOLVES around the online multiplayer. I guess I get what they're going for but it's really stupid that I can't access all the features before I decide that I want to buy the game. That's what renting has always been to me.

Well I saw All Stars becoming a major flop. People can't get over the fact that Smash isn't the only game like that.
I wanted LBPK to be bigger than it was, but I can see why it flopped.

They didn't even touch the Syphon Filter franchise, or Croc, or any of the MANY PSone RPG heroes.

Crash and Spyro are Activision related problems, I already lost hope, but, to my knowledge, all those that I mentioned don't have 3rd party problems

Most of the characters people relate to Sony are third-party.
Microsoft actually also would be able to grab like 15 to 20 Characters for a game like this and they'd have the same issue.

That isnt it, its that the characters dont have iconic designs, nothing that makes them stand out.
Everyone knows how Mario, Samus, Star Fox look like. They all look special. Everyone knows them, even not having played any title.
But now, example - someone just buys a PS3 and was Xbox or Nintendo Gamer before and sees the characters in this game;

Only long time Sony fans like me would even know who the hell some of these guys are, so I thought a game that was all about the Sony fans would bring these guys and many more back into the spotlight, but clearly I was stupid for believing that...
I sh*t you not when I say Sony has... or had, just as many colourful characters as Nintendo does.
This game is fun. I wouldn't say there's anything outright wrong about it but it doesn't really stand out either. I got bored after my 4th playthrough of Arcade mode and really have no desire to go back to it.

I say its a generic Smash Bros for Sony. Or maybe it was based off Smash Bros. They both are very good games with All Stars having no story.

And i just recently played PSABR at a gamestop. I couldn't control anyone except PaRappa, and Kratos can fucking suck my dick. I now understand why people are so annoyed of him.

Kat and Emett (the new DLC characters) will be available February 12th in North America and February 13th in the UK. These guys are free for their first two weeks so DLC them even if you don't really play the game. Kat is hot and free stuff is free stuff.

Sony sucks at promises when it comes to DLC. Some games are still waiting for them to release DLC that should have been released 2 years ago.

Examples? I'm not familiar with Sony's DLC policies...just Media Molecule's, Arc Systems' and Capcom's.
The Behemoth made DLC for their Castle Crashers game two years ago and Sony has yet to release them.
People are saying 6:00pm central time for the dlc to be made available.
