So the real reason for the adapter is to reduce controller latency. Apparently the GamePad and Pro Controller send commands to the console wirelessly even when plugged in which is really dumb. That stuff is really important to competitive fighting game players.

Yeah, especially since the Xbox and Playstation controllers do send inputs through the wired when plugged in. I have no idea why Nintendo didn't do the same.

Well, the original Wiis were compatible with Gamecube controllers, but yeah. I always found it weird that the Classic Controllers plugged into Wiimotes. I guess they couldn't make them plug into the Gamecube controller ports.
