So would you consider Heavy Rain to be a book as well? That game has minimal control over what you do and a huge emphasis on its story.

Heavy Rain's always considered to be more of a movie.. but that's beside the point.
This isn't a book, and really, I've seen just as much writing in say.. Paper Mario. -shot-

I thought of Heavy Rain as more of an interactive movie...
And I've never  seen or played Professor Layton, so I can't say.
