Thank you Nintendo for being a company that cares about quality more than quantity =)
I'd like to add that the guys at Avalanche (Just Cause, Renegade Ops & the upcoming Mad Max)... said the following...
Quote from: vg247Speaking with Edge about the recently thorny issue of used games, Sundberg said, “I’m sure it’s been an issue but that’s because games have been too short. I mean, when you can play a game through from 8 to 10 hours, I would return the game too, because there’s no reason for players to play it again.
“If you’re offering little variation, then there’s no motivation for the player to keep that gameâ€"unless they want to have a nice bookshelf. That’s why we answered that with Just Cause. I go into game stores each week and I always go to the used game boxesâ€"I usually don’t find that many [copies of Just Cause].â€
Sundberg added that hundreds of thousands of gamers still play Just Cause 2 on a weekly basis, backing up his claim that scale and variety can help hold a person’s attention.
Sense! Common, fucking, sense!
I can see why Cliffy is upset. Its not that Bulletstorm or Gears of War are bad games... but they're not games that hold forever. Those campaigns are things you play... once. There is no reason to ever go back. And people dont play MP forever either.
How many used copies of Nintendo games do you see at your local store in comparison to games of other systems?
Nintendo makes quality games people want to replay forever.
Say what you want about their console launches, say what you want about their third party support, say what you want about their release dates, but at least I always keep my Nintendo games.
P.S. Nintendo 4EVER.
I bought Kid Icarus: Uprising used. I'M SORRY REGGIE!
What, your local store didn't have a new copy?

No, and it was the only good game they had.
Don't worry, I'm suffering for it because the case has a big ugly sticker forever attached to it. At least it still came with the AR cards.

I already know I suck at the multiplayer. But next time I get any new game at all I'll be sure to notify you.
And I know the cards are pretty much useless. I'm surprised Nintendo made so many of them.
At least it's neat to have Palutena in your living room...
That or Nintendo has made soooooooooooooo much moneyz from being awesome(Wii, DS, 3DS) that they got to get rid of it somehow...

I did and it reinforced my opinion about Reggie being a badass.

Reggie is so badass that he's scaring customers away from buying a Wii U.
Then Smash Bros. happened.
Because Smash Bros. saved the Gamecube, along with Mario, Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, Pikmin, Star Fox, and every other popular Nintendo franchise. Oh wait, the Gamecube sold worse than every other console that generation.
In the Wii U's defense Melee didn't have the support of a bunch of starved Megaman fans.

You know, there are still more people that want the Xbox One than there are people who want the Wii U
The lack of released games and multiplat support goes a long way...
Add to that the price and the (supposedly) lack of "next-gen graphics"...
The Wii sold because it was cheap and grabbed the audience outside of the "Gamer".
That audience is gone for the most part. A change of course will- or must happen sooner or later...
Nintendo needs to bring new AAA Titles on the table- something that can actually compete with the juggernauts of today- not the juggernauts of 20 years ago.
They at least got the JRPG part crossed out... though X will probably be crushed by FFXV.
And i would not be surprised if Knack sells more than Mario 3D World.
I blame the corporations for spoiling this generation of humans into believing in quantity over quality, and graphics over gameplay.

exactly.
No, it was more of a "I don't even"
Quality is quality, I don't care how frequently it comes, infact, I think the longer the wait the better, it means more polish is being done.
I can't even play half of the games that come out within a year, hell, I still haven't played Red Dead Redemption amongst other things.

And?
Wii U lacks games, thus no intrest under most gamers.
Just look at the comparison of fantastic PS3 games coming in 2013 in comparison to whats coming to Wii U this year.
I can already say the same thing about the PS4 in '14.
I'll be getting both anyway, so it doesnt really matter to me. But, that is the case for most.

But aren't most of those ports?
Why do people like to use the ports argument again Nintendo, but with other consoles it's allowed to slide?
But I digress
Wii U IS getting Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, 3D Mario, Pikmin
That's quite the diverse line-up of games that are SURE to grant hours upon hours of enjoyment.
I personally would rather get a console that announces few games, all of which I
will love, rather than a console that announces many much games, but I only enjoy 1 or 2 of 'em.
Not saying there are only 1 or 2 PS4 games that interest me, but y'know, principles n' shit.

They are Multiplatform Games. Most of which the Wii U lacks.
The reason why people dismissed ports on Wii U because almost all were ports of old games up until now.
You are not wrong per se, but it is not the reality we face.
The situation might be not the case for you, jkid, me and probably a fair amount of other people.
But it is for the far majority. We here do not make up the console market.
And I repeat, I blame the corporations for steering this "vast majority" of people into thinking this way, to prefer quantity over quality, graphics over gameplay, and to believing that sales within the first week are the end-all be-all difinitive answer to whether something is good or not.

Very few people actually think this way. Have you ever met someone who said "I'd prefer a bunch of shitty games over a few good ones" or "Despite hating the gameplay of this game, I enjoy it because it has good graphics"? I doubt it. The fact is that both the PS4 and XBONE will have a higher quantity of quality games than the Wii U ever will, and many of those games will have both great graphics and great gameplay. It's not wise to think that what will happen next generation will be any different than what happened this past generation, except this time the Wii U won't be the most successful system.

I sincerely doubt this.
When I look back at the systems I got, I look at how many of their games I actually go back to every now and then that isn't a fighting game, games that were great when I played it on purchase, and are still great years after. For my PSONE, PS2, PSP, PC, there's only a handful that I don't play once or twice then never again, but on my N64, Wii, NDS, and the few games I have on my 3DS, I replay all of them, except the ones I got as gifts cause I didn't want 'em in the first place.
I'm talking about the type of quality in a game that makes it timeless and replaying no matter when it's played or many times it's played, especially games that don't become "obsolete" once the new version comes out.
Unless we're talking about different kinds of "quality" here...

No, I've never met anyone, or read a post of anyone who has said those words specifically, however, the context I recieve from most people when it comes to being anti-Nintendo is that they prefer consoles that has multiple continuous supply of games coming to it, some may be good, some may be bad, but from the context that I have gathered from what I read is that people tend to be more "comfortable" knowing that many much games will be sitting there waiting for them if they choose to end up getting said console.

Quality is subjective. You may not find GTA or Bioshock or whatever to be timeless, but others do. And either way, people aren't going to avoid a game just because it will be horribly outdated in 10 years or because they'll only play through it once. I'm not going to play 999 ever again, but I'm still glad I was able to experience it the one time.

That's absurd. Nobody is gonna choose one console over another because "it has a few more bad games going for it." It doesn't matter how many bad games a console has, it only matters how many good games it has. That's what people care about. The XBONE and PS4 will have more good games than the Wii U ever will because they have the third-party support of a bunch of talented developers.

There's a bit of a difference there. A large majority of the best games on either the Xbone or PS4 will be available, and nearly identical, on both of those consoles. The Wii U will have more good games that are exclusive/different enough to argue for them over versions on other consoles. You can get an Xbone, PS4, or gaming PC and your experience will be largely the same when it comes to major releases. Then again, that can be both a positive or negative for the Wii U depending on the circumstance in question.

Third-Party Games.
The Lack of Third-Party Games.
Nintendo's first-party line up is just fine.
If all the 360/PS3 Games of this year were coming out on Wii U, the console would be doing fairly better- but Nintendo fails to talk and strike deals with Publishers.
You mean the same publishers who stop at nothing to impose these ugly DRM restrictions that Nintendo wants nothing to do with?

Wait, what about the third party exclusives that the Wii had?
Sure it's hardware was significantly less powerful, so rather than getting ports, didn't the Wii just games new games all together? Like Sonic Unleashed and Spider Man 3, and they weren't better or worse, just different.
And when third parties didn't port games to the Wii, they just made a Wii exclusive game, like Sin and Punishment, Disney Epic Mickey, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, etc.
Where'd the third party support go?

The Wii was the best-selling console of that generation so of course it got third-party support, but unlike the other consoles the majority of it was bad to mediocre. Very few developers actually tried to make worthwhile games for the Wii, and instead they developed their best games for the PS360. Many ignored the Wii altogether.
The Wii U is not successful, so at the moment it is getting very little third-party support and when the next-generation consoles are out it will likely continue to get little third-party support.
And I would consider Sonic Unleashed, Spider Man 3, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, and every other half-assed port to be inferior to their PS360 counterparts.
Also Sin & Punishment isn't third party.
